David Foster Cupp

David Cupp Obituary

CUPP David Foster Cupp, of 4508 Swenson Street in Hilliard, OH, passed away on April 20, 2012 from cardiac arrest following major surgery at OSU Medical Center. Mr. Cupp was a noted photographer and writer at National Geographic Magazine, and several of America's largest newspapers. His work was honored when his pictures were placed upon the Voyager Spacecraft launched into interstellar space in 1977. He was also the runner up for the Pulitzer prize for photography in 1968 and Press Photographer of the Year in 1972. He is listed in Who's Who in America. Mr. Cupp was born in Lewistown, PA to Foster Wilson Cupp and Elizabeth Erhard Cupp, graduated high school there in 1956 and from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL in 1960/ Received his Masters degree from Ohio University in Athens, OH. He is survived by Catherine, his wife of forty-six years; a daughter, Mary Catherine McChesney of Danville, IN; a son, Sgt. John Le Cupp of Anchorage, Alaska; and a daughter, Konica Morgan of Worthington, OH. Another son David Patterson Cupp, passed away in 2010 in Columbus. Mr. Cupp is also survived by his three grandchildren, Bailey McChesney, Tristin and Zyiah Cupp; and his brother, Robert Cupp of Atlanta, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the National Kidney Foundation.
