Debbie Reichelderfer Obituary

Reichelderfer Debbie Reichelderfer, age 67, died suddenly on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at her home in Dublin, OH. She was born on September 26, 1948, in Temperance, MI, the daughter of the late Carlton and Tammy Schalitz. Debbie was a member of St. Brendan's Catholic Church, Hilliard, Ohio. She was a second grade teacher at Beacon Elementary in Hilliard. She retired in May 2013 after 36 years. In the Fall of 2015, she took a position at St. Agatha School as a second grade teacher. Certainly, teaching at St. Agatha was the highlight of her teaching career because of the St. Agatha staff, her students and their families and the opportunity to see her grandchildren every day at their school. Debbie was active in many professional organizations and a member of the Garden Club of Dublin. She loved traveling and taking bike rides with her husband Tom. Debbie treasured her family gatherings and the opportunities to watch her grandchildren as they participated in soccer games, danced and swam in competitive events. Debbie's life was filled with wonderful friendships that started with her teaching career, extended to her bridge group and to her neighbors in her community. She was a long-time lover of animals, especially her rescue dogs Steeler and Brownie. Holidays meant family time and Debbie loved and cherished those special moments with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Greg Schalitz and her sister-in-law Vicki Reichelderfer. She is survived by husband; Tom; and their children, Thom Reichelderfer and Julie (Reichelderfer) Rider; and their spouses, Heidi Reichelderfer and Brett Rider; her five grandchildren; her sister-in-laws, Suzanne Harte of Santa Cruz, CA, Carole Lombard-Hughes of Corda Madera, CA and Pat Schalitz of Temperance, MI; and many cousins and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 8 at St. Agatha Church from 5-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 9 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Agatha Church with Father Dan Ochs officiating. Donations may be made to the Debbie Reichelderfer Saint Agatha Memorial Scholarship Fund or to the CHA Animal Shelter for Rescue Dogs. School children and rescue dogs were two of Debbie's great passions. Arrangements have been entrusted to the JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME, 2693 W Broad St. in Columbus. I am in shock to hear of such a great loss. Everyone who had the opportunity to know Debbie knows she was a beautiful person inside and out. I met Debbie when I taught with her and her daughter Julie at Beacon. I only worked there one year due to my husband's job relocating us. In that year, she shared such a kind heart and left such a great impression on me to be more like her in the classroom. Praying for the family during this difficult time. There is no doubt she will be missed daily and she touched so many lives in the most positive way.

My sincere sympathies to the Reichelderfer Family. I think back to the days of swim meets, summer sun, good times and lots of laughs. You all are in my thoughts.

Her life demonstrated the ultimate caring for children and family. I first knew Debbie through our children in pre-school (Julie and Heidi) and was later honored to have taught with her at Avery. I fondly remember her smile and dedication. From what I have read, her life was filled with all her passions. May you receive God's promise of peace and comfort. Sincerely, Lynn Williams

Tom and family, we are so sorry to hear of Debbie's sudden passing. I wish there were words available to ease the pain you must be feeling. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

Dear Tom...I cannot find the words. As you know, I loved Debbie dearly. Gosh. The memories we shared growing up in Temperance, Michigan, and, being in the great Bedford Senior High School Class of 1966. I remember when the two of you met! I'll go out on a limb here and say it was "love at first sight." What a beautiful couple you made and she was so very proud of your beautiful children who I got to know when they were little. I have just informed the Bedford Class of 1966 of Deb's passing and there is great sadness, Tom. They don't come any sweeter than Debbie, and, we ALL loved her! God speed, Debbie, dear, and, God Bless you, Tom, and the children at this very, very difficult time!

Much Love and Sorrow,

I am deeply saddened to learn of Debbie's passing. My heart goes out to the family and the entire Hilliard City Schools community. What a huge loss! It was my privilege to be mentored by Debbie and Elaine Blosser as my second grade teaching partners early in my career at Beacon Elementary. What a blessing for me to work side by side with Debbie, the best, and to know and admire her. Please be assured of my prayers for the family. May God hold you in His arms and give you all comfort and strength during this difficult time.

So many fond memories of Debbie! We feel she was apart of sons up bringing, as Bobby was in her first multi age class at Beacon. He was with her for first and second grade. She became a lifelong friend to me. You will be missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace my friend.
