Arlene Esther Rasmussen, 88, Valley City, ND passed away on January 20, 2021. Arlene was a beloved grandmother to eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren who loved to spend time with her at her home. Countless hours were spent playing, baking, and learning to drive. Arlene was an avid gardener with a beautiful yard in which she spent countless hours working. Her other life-long love was horses. She started riding at a very early age and had a great love of all animals. She enjoyed baking and delivering cookies to many wonderful friends and loved her Bible Study and Church. She enjoyed traveling, having visited most of the US states, and also loved attending plays. She was a very strong and independent person and will be greatly missed.
Arlene was preceded in death by husband, Richard, parents Henning and Christine Anderson, and brothers Lawerence and Myrvle Anderson. She is survived by daughters Jean Hynek (Doug) and Donna Schutt; son Andey (Kim); and brother, Howard Anderson (Mary). Due to COVID, a Celebration of Life will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Valley City on July 9th, 2021. Burial will be in Luverne Cemetery, Luverne, ND.

Arlene was one of my all-time favorites! I met her several years ago throughout my nursing career at Mercy Hospital. She was such a beautiful person, inside and out. So full of spunk and energy.
