Art Diaz Obituary

ART DIAZ Art Diaz took his last breath, in this world, at Stanford University Hospital on August 2, 2016 while in the embrace of his family. Born September 20, 1946 in El Paso Texas, he was just a month from his 70th birthday. His life exemplified his dedication to the ideals of being a loving father, devoted husband, and loyal friend. He felt at his best amongst the trees in the great outdoors, playing music with friends, or racing down a basketball court. He was a decorated Vietnam War Combat Veteran who truly understood the price of peace, as well as its sacredness. His infectious smile, "tell it like it is" attitude, and resolute integrity with the grit to back it up no matter what the odds, will be missed by all of us who knew and loved him. Art's funeral mass will be held at St Joseph Catholic Church in Eureka on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a graveside service to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Arcata. After the formal services, a Celebration of Life gathering of friends and family, sharing kind thoughts and fond memories, will be held at Sumeg Village in Patrick's Point at 5:00 pm.
