Carl Stone Obituary

Carl Stone Jr. Carl passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2010 after a fight with lung and bone cancer. Carl was born in Charleston, Missouri to Carl Robert, Sr. and Minnie Stone, the 3rd of six children: two daughters Ginny & Pat, now deceased, and three other sons, Bob, Toby, and Larry. He served for several years in the United States Marine Corps. he is survived by four children, Robin Paulson, Tina Stone, Angie Perron, and Larry Stone, as well as eighteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He joins his beloved wife of 42 years, Marlene, who passed away in 2005. Carl was passionate about playing Cribbage, both with family and competitively. He was a member of the ACC club and won many awards, including the silver award in the Grass Roots Competition of 2007-2008. He was very proud of playing a perfect "29" hand at the club and would always break into a big grin and a chuckle when he would "skunk" a family member. He and Marlene enjoyed many nights at the Cher-ae Heights Casino in Trinidad, playing Bingo. After Marlene passed away, Carl continued to spend several evenings a week among his friends at Bingo. In his younger years, Carl was also an avid bowler and even did square dancing for several years. Carl was and continues to be an inspiration to others. he was, to the last, self-sacrificing, caring and devoted to his family. His gentle teasing was his unique trademark with his children and grandchildren. Rest in peace Poppy. We will all miss you! Arrangements are under the care of Paul's Chapel, Arcata, Ca. Am sorry to see that Carl has passed away. Worked with him for a short time back in the mid 90's. He was funny & entertaining to work with. Made me laugh a lot!! Not sure how we got anything done!! But we did!! Bet he still had his "lucky quarter" !! He was a nice & decent guy and the world is less kind & amusing without him.

Larry your Dad might be proud of all the awards he won at Cribbage but none of them compare to the day his son was born. He was so proud of you always. I know there will be a big chasm in your life with his passing. We were friends for many years through thick and thin. Take care of your self. Iona
