We were very sorry to hear of the passing of Don and Chris. My best friend, John Hall, and I were hired by Don and Chris in Nov. 1964 and were among the first young men privileged to work for the fledgling Arcata Ambulance Service. We were all students at Humboldt State and our qualifications, training and equipement were pretty minimal compared to today's standards but I have never worked with a more dedicated, conscientious, and capable group of men, and women. Don and Chris treated us all like family. I have many vivid memories of spectacular ambulance rescue calls, trusted working relationships and wonderful times, celebrations, and laughs with Don, Chris, David, Tom and Judy. I'm sure I can speak for John Hall, Don Odle, Jack McGurk and myself in saying that we will always be very grateful for all the invaluable life experiences, love, and memories that Don and Chris gave us. We send our sincere sympathy and condolences to David, Tom, Judy and their families.

When I first moved to Arcata in 1978 my first job was at Arcata Ambulance and Diamond Glass, aka "Super Cal". I have many great memories working with Don building ambulances for Allied / Oakland. I am probably one of the few in this world who can say I have worked ambulance calls with both Don and Chris! My thoughts and prayers are with their family.

Don was a wonderful friend of mine since i moved to McKinleyville many years ago.He was a good neighbor, golfing pal and a person i could turn to for advice at anytime. He was there always if anyone needed him.He was also a highly respected and liked person in the community and gave that little "extra" of his time whenever he was asked. My world is a little more empty now but I will always have fond memories of my friend.Rest well Don, you have earned it....
