Edward Hopper was born to Ike and Mina Hopper on January 22, 1924, in Zafra, Oklahoma. Edward died July 16, 2003, in Eureka, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
He met his wife, Opal in 1945, in Wichita, Kansas. After courting her for three weeks, they were married. They then moved to Turlock, CA, where Edward painted with Bill Potter, his father-in-law, and worked for Supermold for four years. Then they moved to Stockton where he also painted until 1956 when they moved to Eureka. He then started Hoppers Painting Service and worked for College of the Redwoods as a painter for ten years.
In his spare time he worked on his house and was always busy with his grandchildren. He loved telling stories of family and friends. He always smiled and enjoyed making everyone else smile. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Opal Hopper; his two daughters, Linda Hopper and Carolyn Strasser; and his grandchildren, Susan Iorio and children, Melissa, Amanda, and Jennifer Ocallaghan. He is also survived by Rochelle and her husband Mike St. John and their children, Sara Exline and Michael E. St. John. He leaves Larry Allis and his wife Michell, and their children Mike McClellon and Autumn Aills. He is also survived by Carl and Allen Strasser; two brothers; four sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and three brothers.

I'm so sorry to hear about MR. Hoppers passing. It has been many years since I have lived up on the hill. But I always remember Ed's smile and his always friendly wave when I was a kid. It is funny how a person that is so kind always brings a smile to my face so many years later. My thoughts are with all of you.. Debbie Woody (Nancy's daughter).

We both feel sad to hear about Ed. He has been our neighbor for many years. We also know that the Bible says there is a time to be born and a time to die. May our God give your family peace that only he can do. Vern and Sally Buell.
