Geraldine Pigg Obituary
Geraldine Pigg was born September 24, 1934 in Allegan, Michigan. In 1952, Gerry graduated from Arcata High School, and received the White Sweater Award for her stellar academic and extracurricular achievements. While attending Humboldt State University Gerry earned a degree in Home Economics and met future husband of 63 years, Ervyl Pigg. (Predeceased)
As a teenager, Gerry worked as an usher and then bookkeeper at the Arcata Theater. Gerry's accounting skills, strong work ethic, and determination built and sustained her 45 year career at; Archie Smith Lumber, RH Emmerson, Sierra Pacific, Redwood Coast Trucking, and Pacific Choice.
Geraldine was a devoted, active member of Soroptimist International of Arcata. She routinely spoke of their activities and valued roles. Gerry also dedicated time, energy, and enthusiasm to the HSU Basketball Boosters. She and Ervyl were avid basketball fans, and awaited game nights with great anticipation.
When Gerry wasn't at work, she could be found digging in her garden, weeding flower beds, reading a romance novel, attending HSU games, or floating in the Trinity River.
Geraldine passed away peacefully on November 15, 2022, at the age of 88. She is survived by her three children: Mike Pigg (wife Marci), Michelle Hinshaw, and Melissa Chonzena (husband Dirk). Her grandchildren: Triston, Chloe, Hilary, Megan, Jack, Zachary and Erik.
Services will be held on December 10, 2022 at 2:30 PM at Arcata Methodist Church, 1761 11th St, Arcata.

Mike, Michelle and Melissa...I just found out that Gerry had passed away. I am so sorry I didn't know I would have wanted to tell her Good bye....We worked together at Redwood Construction Co./Redwood Coast Trucking for many years and she was not only a co worker but also a friend. I think of her and Erv often and remember how close they were. They were so proud of their Kids and Grand kids and followed their sports/careers very closely. Gerry and I would get together with other "girls" we worked with and go have lunch and reminisce about all the things that happened over the years. She was a good friend/person...

I enjoyed knowing Gerri from many years when I was a member of Arcata Soroptimists.
Her late husband Erv was a student teacher in my sophomore science class at AHS and he was a great teacher. We are so sorry for your loss.
