JoAnn Kothe, born October 26, 1931, passed away September 14, 2006, at her home in Eureka.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Kothe. JoAnn and Donald had been married for 56 years and have lived in Eureka for the past 37 years. She is also survived by her nieces, Roseann Riggs of Oregon, Leslie Latzke of California; and nephews, Chris Holcomb of California, Chuck Bunnell and Tim Bunnell of Oregon.
JoAnn retired from working in the office of the Eureka Adult School in 1978 where she worked for 8 years. JoAnn and Donald attended The First Covenant Church and enjoyed the fellowship and friendships that they developed over the years.
JoAnn loved to read, collect state quarters, and talk on the telephone. She enjoyed her luncheon gatherings with the former office staff from Eureka Adult School where they would get together 3 or 4 times a year to talk about what was taking place in their lives. This group included Hilda Ranton, Susan Hutchinson, and the late Ardith Carter.
She and Donald looked forward to their every Wednesday luncheons with her close friends Arno and Bernice Klemm and Jerry Carter.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer a donation to the Cancer Society.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 22 at The First Covenant Church in Eureka at 1:00 p.m.

I appreciated JoAnn's quiet spirit, her love for people, and her sacrificial love and commitment to her husband Don. We will miss her, but we know that she is now in the arms of her Savior.

I was given great honor by knowing this kind and generous woman. She was like a grandmother to me. She was always so sweet and kind, and kept Don in line. She was a woman with a great sense of humor and filled with life, and loved her friends and her family. May God bless her soul and all who loved her. My prayers and condolences go out to Don, I am deeply saddened by her death, but she is in a much better place than all of us right now. God Bless everyone who knew her.
