Kari Setterlund Obituary

Kari Daree Setterlund

RED BLUFF - Kari Daree Setterlund joined her Lord on Sunday morning, March 6th, at her home in Red Bluff, CA. Kari’s concern was always for others to her final days.

Kari was born Kari Daree Erdahl on February 27th, 1975, at General Hospital in Eureka, CA, and lived in Humboldt County and spent summers in Burney while growing up. Kari moved to Red Bluff with her husband Jeremy and two sons Tyson and Graham in 1997. Kari enjoyed camping, snow and water sports, and working with her hands doing different craft projects. She enjoyed going to college as much as she could and when she was younger loved competitive tennis and her pony Little Red. Kari and son Tyson were Honorary Co-Chairpersons for “Relay for Life” in Red Bluff in 2002.

Kari is survived by her husband, Jeremy; her two sons, Tyson and Graham; her parents, Mark and Jana Erdahl; Sheri and Gordon Clapp; and Liz Campbell; her sisters, Tiah and Riki Sheesley, Genisis Mink, Jennifer Campbell, and Jessica Erdahl; her grandparents, George and Mary Erdahl; Gene and Claudine Houx; her great grandmother, Margaret Mathis; her uncles, Eric Erdahl, Clint, Steve and Blaine Houx; her mothers and fathers-in-law, Cliff and Donna Setterlund, Jan and Dan Alton; her aunt, Hodi; her best friend, Amy Toroni; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, stepsisters, sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and relatives and friends too numerous to name.

A public memorial service and pot-luck will be held at the Red Bluff Elks Lodge on Sunday, March 13th, from 3pm to 6pm.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, a trust fund for sons Tyson and Graham Setterlund has been established at Umpqua Bank, P.O. Box 1280, Roseburg, OR 97470 “Kari’s Kids” Acct #990211674.

Dear Jeremy,

Joy and I were very sorry to hear about Kari. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the boys. You come from a strong family that has always stuck together. We can't imagine what you must be going through, but you have family close by that will help you get through this. Christine sends her prayers.

My families prayers and wishes are with you during these times of loss. I had the wonderful privilege to know Kari throughout our elementary and high school years. Kari was always a thoughtful friend. I have many fond memories of Kari, but one memory will always stay with me. During lunch on the first day of high school, I found myself friendless and alone until Kari tapped me on the shoulder and invited herself to lunch with me. It was a simple act of kindness, but it meant a lot to me then and it still does to this day. This is just one example of Kari's charitable and giving spirit. Although, after high school, I only bumped into Kari a few times, she always warmed my heart and made me laugh. I will miss her a lot.

My thoughts go out to Kari's family. I have several fond memories of Kari from childhood, all through high school. I was lucky enough to grow up two houses down from her, and I have some great memories to hold on to. I will never forget her and the times I was so fortunate to share with her. She was a very caring and giving person that I will never forget. I am so thankful that she had great support from her best friend Amy, and the strength from her family.

My prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. I feel so blessed to have know Kari as she was growing up. She and my sister, Amy Lake, were such close playmates, and I have many fond memories of them together. Kari always had a smile and a laugh to share. We were just talking about her and Amy at a family gathering on Sunday. She will be truly missed. Again, my prayers, love, and sympathy are with you today and in the upcoming months.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of Kari's family.I have so many fond childhood memories of Kari. I loved spending time at her house with her sisters and her mom, Sheri. Kari also spent time with my family camping and hanging out. They all remember her fondly. Kari and I didn't keep in touch very well after we were both married, but she was always in my heart and we managed to touch base with each other every so often. She was a kindred spirit and will be greatly missed. I am so sorry for the tremendous loss to all of those who loved her.

My prayers have always been with Kari's entire family and you all are in my thoughts everyday.

Kari was a wonderful sister to not only her sisters but to others who didn't have an older sister to look up to. The lessons of high school were much easier to learn becuase we had someone to help us.

I love you all and may your Heavenly Father hold you in this time of trial.

Love always, Sarah
