Never a day went by that Mrs. Carlson did not bring cheer to our 5th and 6th grade classes at Franklin School. In God's great scheme we were fortunate to have such a great teacher. I was one of the "Tombstone Four" quartet and have always cherished that memory with her and my classmates. All those she taught were in essence her extended family. She is missed, but her wonderful memory stays. Richard Gordon

Mrs. Carlson was my 6th grade teacher . She organized 4 of us students as the "Tombstone Four" and we sang as a western group all over Eureka at various functions including KIEM radio and TV while we were at Franklin Elem. School. A very special lady who gave us four special memories. She will not be forgotten.

Laurene was wise, compassionate, and a total joy to be with. I missed our concert outings after she moved to Washington, and loved catching up with her activities on phone calls. She spread a lot of happiness in her 97 years on earth and we know she's singing and playing in heaven right now. She'll be missed so much. Love and prayers from Marty and Dan.

Rachel and Andrew you are in my thoughts. I remember your mother being so sweet and kind to everyone. And I remember her wonderful piano playing. I wish you and your familes comfort in her beautiful memory.

How could I let the memory of Mrs. Carlson go without saying a few words? Of all the teachers I have had in my life (over 70 years) Mrs. Carlson was the very best! She taught my 5th and 6th grades at Franklin School. I could not wait to go to school for her classes! She loved teaching us music and stayed after hours to pursue our singing in groups and quartets. Her passing has brought me memories of which I treasure. I'm sure that I am not alone when praising her as a teacher. May her family and friends find peace in that Mrs. Carlson left our world a much better place.

Rachel, Andrew and families: Laurene was such a dear, dear lady and she'd been my friend pretty much since she and David moved here. She helped me out when I was in college at Pacific Lutheran University and we became even closer friends in later years, and she was almost like a second mom. She was a wonderful pianist, organist, choir director and Sunday school superintendent for many, many years. I really missed our getting together and our talks after she moved to Washington, but I truly enjoyed her phone calls. It was always great to hear her voice. She lived a good, full life and will be missed by so many, including her former students from when she was a teacher. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers as you have been. Laurene left you all with wonderful memories to hold dear and cherish. She set a great example for all of us.

I had the pleasure of meeting Laurene Carlson. I worked for a local veterinary office where she and her beloved pet "Winchester" came into the office. After Winchester's passing I brought him to my home in Idaho to spread his ashes on my property. It was a pleasure to serve her and her pet. May you rest in peace Mrs. Carlson! Winchester is with you again.
