Marcella Keisner Obituary

Marcella Delores Keisner

Marcella Delores Keisner died February 21, 2008, after a fully lived life.

She was born March 23, 1928, in Crescent City, CA, where she grew up. She was a member of the Smith River Rancheria and was proud of her native heritage. She lived the first 13 years of her life with her grandparents, John and Minnie Cook and then moved to Riverside, CA, where she attended Sherman Indian Boarding School from 1941 through 1946, completing grades 7 through 12. Marcella worked in the Lily Bulb farms in Smith River and also worked at the Eureka Fisheries. She married George D. Cox in 1957 and lived in several Northern California communities. She married George M. Keisner in 1976 and lived in Loleta, CA, on the Bear River Rancheria. She enjoyed traveling with her husband’s racing team (Car 27) in the Southern Oregon and Northern California racetracks. She was an avid crocheter and loved making items for family members. She liked cats and dogs and always had many, along with her special dog Nacho.

Marcella was preceded in death by her husband, George Keisner; her two sons, Harold Cox and Edward Cox; her parents, Harold Maurer and Letty Ponte; and two sisters, Ada and Blossom.

She is survived by her daughter and fiancé, Lenora Hall and Leland Gabe Moon Jr.; a daughter, LeAnn Wonnecott; a son, Leonard Wonnecott; four sisters, Adeline Thomas, Letty Sesher, Nellie Chisman, and Evelyn Manning; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters-in-law, Delores, Gail Keisner, Judy Keisner, and Patty Keisner; three brothers-in-law, Glen Keisner, Ronnie Keisner, and Lornie Keisner; one daughter-in-law, Rhonda; and one granddaughter whom she raised, Jennifer Smith as well as many other relatives.

A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, February 24th 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Wier’s Mortuary. Funeral services only will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday February 25th at Wier’s Mortuary Chapel.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel, Crescent City, California.
