Marion passed away on March 11, 2007, from lung cancer at age 47. She was a resident of McKinleyville, living in Humboldt County for the last 17 years.
She was born to Richard and Betty Lansdowne in Palms Springs, California, on August 24, 1959. She subsequently moved all over the western US while growing up. Marion married her first husband, David Wilson, in Alaska at age 19 and they had three children by the age 26. After David passed away in 1985, Marion moved to Phoenix, Arizona, and was married again a second but short time. She lived there until 1989 when she relocated to Humboldt County where she had lived all but a year and a half since then. She met her third husband, John Elam while working at the Video Connection in Cutten shortly after moving here. They got married in 1992 and opened a restaurant together south of Eureka called Caddy’s which she he would often sing at. It closed down after a little over 3 years of operation. John then passed away in 1996 of heart failure. Her middle child Brian died in a car accident near Legget in 2000 as well. After suffering many personal tragedies and triumphs she only became stronger and thusly more opinionated. Marion worked many different jobs including front desk at the Eureka Inn and was a certified Massage Therapist. She worked the last 3 years at Thomas Home Center. Her personal creed was to do the little things to brighten someone’s day.
She is survived by partner, Robert Humphrey; mother, Betty Lansdowne; brother, Richard; and sister, Jenny and their respective families; sons, Richard and Tymon Wilson; granddaughter, Tenayah Norris; step daughter, Janelle Jackson and her children GT, Collin and Clara as well as many close friends. We would like to thank Hospice and Thomas Home Center for everything they have done for her.
Marion was preceded in death by first husband, David; third husband, John; father, Richard; and her son, Brian.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, March 25th at Azalea Hall, 1620 Pickett Road in McKinleyville from 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm. You can send your condolences to P.O. Box 896, Arcata, CA. 95518 or email [email protected]. Instead of flowers you can donate to Hospice of Humboldt, or any anti-smoking or cancer research charity you would like. Sis,
Even though we didn't see much of one another in the last 20 years (what- 4 or 5 times?) - a part of me is gone forever with your departure. It blew a small hole in my heart. Well, we'll be together again someday - say hi to Dad and Brian from me, and like Tom Bodett says - keep the light on for me. Love ya...
