A vision of Natalie comes up whenever I see good teaching. She was such a good teacher; she loved the kids and they knew it. Her positive attitude was contagious. I still think of her often.

A little known fact is that our beloved Natalie was a wonderful artist. Her first job in Southern California was at the Hanna-Barbera Studio, where she applied her artistry to many famous cartoons of the day.
Another little known fact is that when she first came to California, before settling in Glendale, she lived with her Uncle Paul and Aunt Lee. Her three cousins, Jonathan, Andy, and Barnaby, loved having a sister. She taught us how to Tie-dye and our kitchen and wardrobes were never the same.
She also taught us that Everything is "Cool", she was a natural born teacher.

Natalie and I were the first two teachers hired to reopen Lincoln School. The beginning experiences we had together in that big empty school kept us close.Together we worked and became friends and colleagues that launched our teaching careers. These thoughts will always be with me. To Natalie's Family support and sympathy
through this difficult time.

Natalie and I enjoyed daily lunch walks at Washington School during the brief overlap in time when we taught there together. In no time she roped me into presenting at Redwood Environmental Education Fair with her, which we did for many years. Last year she told me she would not be able to do REEF this year...
Condolences to her brother Michael and family in Florida and all Natalie's many, many friends here on the north coast. Sadly, Natalie will leave a big hole in lots of hearts.

Natalie became our friend so quickly that I felt I had always known her. We miss her smile and joy of life. So sad that she has passed from the life she loved so much. We love you Natalie.

Natalie was across the hall from me at Lincoln and my walking partner on Tuesday afternoons, back in the day. We remained friends all these years. She was so happy to move to her new apartment in Arcata. She loved the independent lifestyle it gave her...and then she was gone...so sorry.

So sorry to hear this...I had no idea Natalie was ill. :( We had dinner with her at Mazzotti's during Arts Alive 3 or 4 years ago and enjoyed a lot of laughs! She use to mentor my youngest daughter, Bethany. Much love to her family in Florida. We in Humboldt will hold special memories of Natalie in our hearts.

Mrs. Grimme was my third grade teacher, and was one of the teachers who inspired me to become a teacher myself. One vivid memory I have of her class was during silent reading time: She was setting a good example and silently reading when she suddenly got up and rushed out of the room. It turned out that she was reading Bridge to Terabithia and had gotten to the sad part... It made a big impression on us that a grown-up could be so moved by a book from our school library.

Natalie was my son's 3rd grade teacher when Worthington Elementary school reopened. She was my first contact at the school and soon became a good friend. Natalie was a wonderful teacher who was loved by her students. She will be greatly missed.

I got to know Natalie at a community event when she began to be involved with Honeydew school and later as a board member for our school district. She was a warm lovely person and will be missed here in the Mattole. Roxy Kennedy

I taught with Natalie at Lincoln School; in fact my last 2 years of teaching were in her former classroom. She blessed us and her students with her loving, gentle nature...and always her beautiful smile. She is missed. Condolences to the family. I hope that you take comfort in knowing that she was loved by her Humboldt friends and co-workers.
