Nelda Jane Anderson

Nelda Jane Anderson Nelda passed away March 5, 2010 peacefully after a brief illness just two days shy of her 89th birthday. Nelda touched so many lives, with her kindness and love of life and all things living. She taught her family that life is such a precious gift that each day should be lived to the fullest and even if it meant stopping to smell the first Spring bloom or to watch the clouds form in the sky. She had a love of beautiful music and even a Saturday night boxing match with the boys. There was nothing pretentious about our grandmother, a clean sweatshirt and jeans was dressing up because simple was the best. But the love of her family and family gatherings were her riches. She never judged or took anything for granted. She always gave from her heart. Her love of animals was always abundantly clear from a very small girl. In later years, she bred and showed horses, raised Dobermans and adopted rescued Greyhounds. She was preceded in death by her husband John F. Anderson and her parents John R. and Nellie Pederson. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law Richard Anderson of Eureka, Erick Anderson of Fortuna and Yvonne "Cookie" Anderson of Orangevale; her grandchildren Teri and Chris Levitt, Richard M. Anderson, all of Eureka, Kelly Chalmers of Pullman, WA, Erica and Ron Adams and Michelle Anderson all of Chico; Great Grandchildren Hayley, Marissa, Tanner Levitt and Shawn DeVore, Dylan, Brittney-Lea and Justin Anderson all of Eureka, Courtney, Sierra, Mackenzie, Jade and Cassidy Chalmers of Pullman, WA, Janelle, Megan and Tyler Black of Chico and Great-Great grandson Garrett Levitt. The family would like to thank her new family and friends at Exclusively Sequoia Care for providing the love and care during her last year of life, you will always be forever in our hearts and to Hospice of Humboldt for providing the care and dignity in her last week. At the request of Nelda no services will be held. Friends and relatives are invited to the Celebration of Life which will be held April 10, 2010 at the Eureka Elks Lodge on Herrick Ave. from 11AM to 1PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Humboldt. Arrangements are under the care of Pierce Mortuary, Eureka, CA.
