Phyllis May Craddock joined our Lord March 22, 2005, after a brief illness with her two sons at her side.
Phyllis was born in Clarks, Nebraska, to Earl Irving Waggoner and Rosa Anne Johnston, the fourth of six children and the last to be called to be with her Lord.
She and her family moved to Humboldt when she was 12 years old. They settled in Rohnerville where she attended grammar school and graduated from Fortuna High. Phyllis worked for a time as a waitress at the old Goody Café in Fortuna where she met and married her husband of 37 years. She resided in Scotia with her family for many years and worked at various positions for Bertains Laundry, as a company phone operator for PALCO’s main office, and as a lumber handler/machine operator for Fortuna’s Wood Furniture Company.
Phyllis’ husband Chester C. Craddock, Jr. of Scotia preceded her in death in 1984.
She is survived by her two loving sons, Robert B. Craddock (Sheriff Bob) of Rio Dell, and Chester D. Craddock, Sr. of Fortuna. She leaves six grandchildren, Shawnee Sauers of Rio Dell, Chace Craddock of Baltimore, MD, Darci Craddock of Rio Dell, Dewey Craddock, Jr., of Riverside, Jennifer Craddock Masters of Riverside, and Robert W. Craddock of San Diego. She also leaves ten great grandchildren whom she loved adoringly.
There will be no services at Phyllis’s request.
Donations can be made to the American Heart and Lung Associations in her name.
Arrangements are under the direction of Goble’s Fortuna Mortuary.

Phyllis was a dear friend of mine for 20 years. Because of our age difference, I often referred to our relationship as Phyllis was the young spirit and I was the old soul. You don't meet too many woman in their 60s that learned the Electric Slide (a dance in the 90s). She was fun and sassy all at the same time, but most importantly she was truly a good friend that was there to listen when you needed her. Between the two of us, we should have owned stock in Ma Bell, because even though I moved from California to Kentucky, we kept in touch constantly. On the phone, we solved all the problems of the world. I loved her so much and she is so greatly missed. I thank Phyllis for raising sons that were gracious enough to keep me up on all the details and kind even to just let me cry. Thank you Robert and Dewey. Sure do miss your mom.

What I want to say about Auntie Phyllis would be far too much to write here. But she was such a special family member to me throughout my lifetime and especially in the earlier years when she and her family would take me with them hunting, fishing and camping. I spent many a night at their home just for a sleepover with cousin Dewey. Auntie Phyllis will always be in my heart and I will miss her dearly. My wife Kathy, sons Kevin and Paul are so grateful we were able to visit her in December while home for my mom's funeral. All our prayers to her family.

This was a very special lady that had enough love in her heart to include those that were not her own.
She is responsible for good memories in a childhood raked by abuse. May God be with all of you in a special way at this time.
