Richard Jimenez

Richard Jimenez 57, of Sacramento, died Saturday, May 11, 2013. He courageously fought for six years after a double lung transplant due to a diagnosis of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Richard graduated from Arcata High School in 1973, and attended College of the Redwoods, American River Junior College and Western Career College. After enlisting in the US Army, he did a tour in South Korea during the Vietnam era; served in law enforcement in Eureka, CA; last working as a LVN through UC Davis Medical Center. He was extremely passionate about all aspects of life including running, reading, boxing, an occasional Harley ride and visiting the beach. Richard was constantly looking for another avenue of learning and ways to indulge in his desire for knowledge. He was born to Paul and Pauline Jimenez November 29, 1955 in Cloverdale, CA. He is survived by his wife, Heidi Jimenez; brothers Pablo, Robert, Marty; and sister Rosie; by six children: Amy and Jason Jimenez, of Las Vegas, NV; Richard Jimenez, Jr. and Christa Jimenez Suarez, of Eureka, CA; Zoe Jimenez and Anthony Verdugo, of Sacramento, CA; and by eleven grandchildren. He also is survived by the mother to his four oldest children, Pamela Carey, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
