Dino Pellegrini Obituary

BARRE - Dino E. Pellegrini, 95, a longtime resident of Woodland Drive and later Lincoln House on Hill Street, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin, where he had been a resident for the past seven years. His family had been at his bedside.

Born July 1, 1919, in Montpelier, he was the son of Giovanni and Louisa (Adami) Pellegrini. He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1937 and from Vermont Junior College, also in Montpelier, in 1939. He played on the basketball teams at both schools.

On March 22, 1947, he married Aurelia Ruiz in Barre, where they spent all their married life. She died in September 2003.

Dino had a lifetime association with the granite memorial industry, being co-owner of the former Everlasting Memorial Works in Montpelier.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushrooming, reading and was an avid fan of the New York Giants and the Boston Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins teams.

Dino had also coached minor and Little League baseball and youth basketball in Barre.

A veteran of U.S. Army service in World War II, he served from 1942 to 1944 as a hospital corpsman and had been stationed in the African and European theaters of operations.

Dino was a life member of Barre American Legion Post 10 and The Mutuo Inc., as well as belonging to the Barre Elks Lodge 1535.

Survivors include his daughter, Louisa Neveau, of Barre, and his son, John Pellegrini, and his wife, Rebecca, of Orange; two grandchildren, Aimee Pope and her husband, Richard, and Brian Pellegrini, all of Barre; as well as nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, Aurelia, he was predeceased by his sister, Enes Mattson.

Dino's life will be honored and celebrated with a graveside and committal service on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Hope Cemetery in Barre.

There are no calling hours.

Louisa & John, I'm very sorry to hear of Dino's passing. He brought so much happiness to so many of Barre's youth. Especially during his Little League & Babe Ruth Baseball years. He not only taught us the game but taught us so many life lessons, as well. His love of baseball rubbed off on all of us that had the pleasure of knowing his passion for the game. He also, had a great sense of humor and I was fortunate to have known him for so many years. My deepest condolences go out to all of the Pellegrini family. May he rest in peace!
