Carroll Wood Obituary

Carroll Otto Wood

Carroll Otto Wood, 80, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2009, at a local hospital.

Born in Virginia, he was a retired Lieutenant from the United States Navy after 28 years of service as an Air Traffic Controller.

He was a long-time member of Wycliffe Presbyterian Church.

Carroll is survived by his wife, Irene Fern Wood; daughter, Suzanne Sanford and her husband, James; son, Douglas Wood and his wife, Patricia; two sisters, Dorothy Riner and Elizabeth Maupin; two grandchildren, Kimberly Elizabeth Prewett and her husband Larry, Justin Douglas Wood; two great- grandchildren, Tyler and Randy Prewett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Wycliffe Presbyterian Church by the Reverend James R. M. Young. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel.
