Richard McCarty Obituary

Richard E. McCarty, "Bubba", 75, of Longmont, died September 11, 2012 at Longmont United Hospital. He was born August 10, 1937 in Lyons, Colorado the son of Elery Howel McCarty and Lorena Jean (Craig) McCarty. After attending high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving from 1955-1965 including a tour in Korea. Besides being fondly remembered as Bubba, he was also affectionately called Red, Mac, Dick and McCarty by his friends. He worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier until his retirement in 1992. During his career he volunteered his time to the Longmont Post Office Food Drive. Following his retirement he worked for the St. Vrain Valley School District as a bus driver and also with nutrition services. He played on the senior softball and volleyball teams, followed his niece's, Baylee and Chandler Subbert sport activities at Lyons High School. He was also a supporter of Lyons High Football. Richard and Vicki Neibert met in 1985, starting a wonderful life together. On February 14, 1991 they married in Longmont, CO. Survivors include his wife Victoria of Longmont, his son Cork Waddell of Loveland and his daughters Janet (Jerry) Landers of Purcell, OK, Susan McCarty of Ardmore, OK and Allison (Chris) Benda of Loveland, CO and 6 grandchildren Shannon Waddle, Robin Waddle, Amy LeBron, Ryan Eads, Ashleigh McCarty, Cyle Benda and 6 great grandchildren Damian LeBron, Tristan, Toby and Maycee Waddle and Eden and Elan Eads and numerous nieces and nephews. His sisters Betty Kern of Boulder, Helen Hacker and Donna Christman of Longmont further survive him. Preceding Richard in death are his parents and his brother Ralph Godsey and recently a brother in law Chuck Christman. Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services. Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, September 28, at LifeBridge Christian Church. Contributions in Richard's memory are requested to offset the cost of meals for children in need in the St. Vrain Valley School District. Oh Vic, I am so sorry to hear this. I wish we were there for you and the family. My heart is breaking for you and not sure what to say that could even take a little of your pain away. We will be praying for all of you. I am hear for you if you need to cry, talk, yell or just laugh about some of the funny stuff. Sending our love and good thoughts to you. Love you so much Vic.
