Albert Cowling Obituary

Albert Carlton Cowling, 73, passed away Monday, November 28, 2005 at Waverly Health Care Center, after a long illness. Born in Surry County, Va., he was a son of the late Bernice Everett Cowling and Edna Branch Cowling. Mr. Cowling served his country in the U.S. Army, was a retired carpenter, a member of the Farmers' Hunt Club, former member of Beaverdam Sportsman's Club, and a member of Rocky Hock United Methodist Church. He loved hunting and fishing. He is survived by two daughters, Kay Cowling Nicholson and husband, Ronnie, of Waverly, and Robin Cowling Clark and husband, Raymond, of Disputanta; one granddaughter, Taylor Leigh Clark; brother, B. E. Cowling Jr. of Waverly; and sister, Dorothy Cowling Moody of Wakefield. He was predeceased by three sisters, Nell C. Rogers, Edna Earl C. Schwitzenberg, and Frances C. Lowe. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Purviance Funeral Home Chapel, Wakefield, Va., with the Rev. Joy Heaton and the Rev. Wayne Lowe Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Wakefield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, 6 until 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Waverly Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 583, Waverly, Va. 23890 or Rocky Hock United Methodist Church, c/o Mabel Johnson, 1629 Aberdeen Rd., Wakefield, Va. 23888. Condolences may be posted at www.jtmorriss.com. Purviance Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
