Angela Versch Obituary

VERSCH, Angela Theresa, 84, of Bon Air, Virginia, passed away at home on Saturday, July 15, 2023. Angela was born November 29, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Salvatore Paolantonio and Jean Dinicola Paolantonio. We are certain that in her passing she was embraced in much love by her late husband, Werner. Angela is survived by her son, Werner Versch II (Jennifer); daughter, Karen Kerner (Kai); her beloved grandchildren, David and Harrison Versch and Alexandria and Emily Kerner all of Midlothian; her sister, Gloria Pisaturo of Rhode Island; and numerous relatives.

Angela called Bon Air, Virginia, home for the last 50 years. She kept herself busy by becoming a swim team mom and Girl Scout and Cub Scout Troop leader; acquiring lifelong friends along the way. She pursued employment in the 1980s with Chesterfield County Public Schools as a cafeteria worker in her children's middle school. She later moved on to become a preschool teacher with Bon Secours Family Center and spent 25 years shaping young lives. After retiring, she kept busy by volunteering, lunches and happy hours with friends, playing bridge, reading, traveling, spending lots of time with her grandchildren, and cooking. Angela found much enjoyment not only in her grandchildren but in grocery shopping (yes, you read that correctly). Any trip she took would inevitably include a quick stop to a local grocery store to check out the deals. Food was her love language. She delighted in making meals for family and friends. A meal around her kitchen table was always filled with not only incredible food but lots of laughter and entertainment. Guests pushed away from the table with a full belly and happy heart.

Angela's loving spirit will be missed by everyone who knew her. She will forever be in our hearts. A service will be held Saturday, September 9 at 10 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Bon Air, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
