Anne Gresham Obituary

GRESHAM, Anne Adams, of Stage Junction, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Norman Gresham. She is survived by her son, Vic Gresham of Stage Junction; her daughter, Mary Anne Gresham of Richmond; her son, Tim Gresham of Powhatan; and her daughter, Patricia Johnson of Stage Junction. Also surviving are devoted daughters-in-law, Julie Ingram Gresham of Powhatan and Mary Ann Gresham of Stage Junction; and devoted son-in-law, William Johnson of Stage Junction. She is survived by her brothers, Tom Adams of Fairfax and Bob Adams of Timberville; sisters, Betty Baker of McLean and Joan Vipperman of Winchester; sister-in-law, Karma Adams; and brother-in-law, Bill Vipperman. She also left to cherish her memory grandsons, Wells, Gordon and Adam Gresham of Richmond and Temple Cabell of the U.S. Special Forces; granddaughters, Catherine Gresham of Richmond, Annie Johnson of Blacksburg, Emma Johnson of Stage Junction, Miranda Gresham and Gracie Gresham of Powhatan, and Carrington St. Aubin of Richmond. Anne was born in Oakton, Virginia, on August 2, 1930 to Thomas Edwin and Agnes Kennedy Adams. She attended Mary Washington College and Strayer Business School. As a young woman, Anne worked for the Justice Department in Washington, D.C., and in later years worked in the development office of the University of Richmond, as assistant to the president of J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, assistant to the Secretary of Education for the Commonwealth of Virginia, and constituent services coordinator for U.S. Senator Paul Trible in Richmond. Anne was president of the James River Republican Women's Club, Regent of the Point of Fork Chapter of NSDAR, and a member of the Mayflower Society. She was a fine amateur artist and a devoted student of history and genealogy. She was a member of Lyles Baptist Church. Friends and family will be received at her home in Stage Junction from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, August 15. The funeral will be held on Saturday, August 16 at 2 p.m. at Lyles Baptist Church in Wilmington, Virginia, with Pastor Thomas J. LeVines and Pastor Jack Thomas officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the Sheridan Funeral Home of Kents Store, Va. In lieu of flowers, donations may be mailed to Lyles Baptist Church, P.O. Box 475, Palmyra, Virginia 22963.
