Aubrey Alexander Gary, Jr.

Aubrey Alexander Gary, Jr. (Alex), of Mechanicsville, VA, passed away on December 27, 2024 at the age of 89. Alex was a Richmond native, growing up in Highland Park and moved to Mechanicsville in the early 1950's after he served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Concord College, Athens, WV with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. After graduating, he worked in the oil industry as a controller. He retired from Crown Petroleum after many years of service. He was a long-time member of Gethsemane Church of Christ. He enjoyed telling amusing stories from his life experiences and kept us laughing with his quick wit. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; and stepchildren, James Heath (Janet), Byron Heath, Robin Kahn (Will); stepdaughter-in-law, Carlene Heath, five stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and cousins, Lewis Brandt, Dr. Phillip Brandt and Frank England. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey A. Gary, Sr. and Countice Brandt Gary; cousins, Dr. Charlie Brandt, Billy Brandt and Buford Isbell; and his stepson, John Heath.

Family will receive friends on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home Mechanicsville Chapel, with funeral services at 2 p.m., on January 4, 2025. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery following the service. His wife would like to thank Hospice of Virginia for their kind support.
