Barbara Faith "Faye" Connerley

Barbara Faith "Faye" Connerley of Mechanicsville, Virginia, passed away on Monday, August 11, at the age of 83. She was affectionately known and loved by many as Maw-Maw Faye. Faye was born on November 6, 1941, in Jacksonville, Florida, to William L. Coats Jr. and Doris W. Coats. They were a United States Coast Guard family and moved often to various places in the US, but she spent most of her early life in Fort Pierce, FL. The family eventually moved to Jupiter, Florida, where she graduated from Jupiter High School and was a stay-at-home mother raising three children. She later worked in the office at Shield Exterminating of Riviera Beach, Florida, as an Office Administrator until she retired. She moved to Mechanicsville after retirement, where she spent her remaining years. Faye was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William "Trotter" Coats; and grandson, John Michael Shelley. She is survived by her children, Mark Connerley (LeAyne) of Aylett, Virginia, Curtis Connerley of Jupiter, Florida, and Pam Shelley (Rob) of Port St. Lucie, Florida; brothers, Kenny Coats (Diane) of Jupiter, Florida, and Ronald "Skipper" Coats of Ocala, Florida; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; a new great-grandchild is expected any day; cousins, Peter Coats of Norfolk, Virginia, Robin Wright of Fort Pierce, Florida, and Turner Coats II of Texas. Faye was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, family member, and friend who lived a life of simple pleasures. She loved her family, making friends, and her animals, but her greatest treasure was Jesus!

A visitation and service were held at B.W. White Funeral Home, 7837 Richmond Tappahannock Hwy, Aylett, Virginia 23009, on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
