Barbara Hansen Obituary
Barbara is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bob; her children, Denise McCann (Jim), Kristen Crotty (Dave), Tara Proffitt (Steven); and grandchildren, Maegen, Matthew, Caitlyn, Leah and Owen. She was predeceased by her parents, Hugh and Catherine Shanahan; and brother, Robert Shanahan (Inge).
Born on November 21, 1936, in Wallington, N.J., Barbara spent most of her adult life working and raising her family in Wayne, N.J., before retiring in Richmond, Va. Barbara was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She had many names – Babs, Sissy, Mema, Grammy, Mimi, but most importantly, Mom. She loved her children and grandbabies with all her heart and made sure to remind them as she would sing "You Are My Sunshine" or simply sit by their side and stroke their hair. She was truly the sweetest soul and we take peace in knowing that we now have her as our forever angel. We love you Mom, and you will always be our sunshine.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I am so sorry to hear of Barbara´s passing. It wasn´t too long along that we exchanged texts. Bob and my
husband were in rehab together at the Laurels (both for quite a while and a few years back) and we got to know each other there. I could tell, by the way she spoke, that she loved her children and grandchildren to the moon and back. Keep your mom´s memory close to your heart. Praying that Bob adjusts okay to life without his dedicated and loving wife.
