Heaven has gained a new bright shining star, Barbara Mann Scott, 84, of Goochland, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Floyd Wilbur Mann and Mary Elizabeth Bowles Mann. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy Thomas Scott, Sr; brother, Wilbur Leon Mann; ex-sister-in-law, Betty Haney Mann; and brother-in-law, Stuart E. Melton.

She is survived by her sister, Nancy Mann Melton; brother, James Stewart Mann and his wife, Anne Trice Mann; sister-in-law, Lisa Mann; five nephews, four nieces, 11 great-nephews, nine great-nieces, one great-great-nephew, and three great-great-nieces.

Barbara began her career working for the state of Virginia in the Department of Purchase and Supply. She went on to work for General Motors Regional Headquarters in Richmond and later in Rockville, MD, until her retirement. She then took a position as executive secretary for M&T Bank (formerly Provident Bank), retiring after many years.

She enjoyed being an active member of the Democratic Party. She loved nature, especially birds. She loved old, beautiful homes, all forms of art, and horses, many of which she owned throughout her life. Most of all, Barbara loved her family.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, Glen Allen. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Westhampton Memorial Park.
