Benson Hall Obituary

HALL, Mr. Benson Luther, In the 64th year of his abundantly blessed life, Benson Luther Hall passed after a bold and courageous fight with cancer on Saturday, August 27, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benson Eugene Hall and Anne Brehm Hall.

Benson is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Terry; his daughter, Ashley Hall Cochrane (Ben); his daughter, Samantha Leigh Novo (Alex); his son, Benson William Hall (Annie); and his grandchildren Ben, Will, and Peter Cochrane, Sydney and Alexander Novo; and another Hall granddaughter on the way.

Benson was born in Newport News, Va., and graduated with a business degree from Virginia Tech, where he met the love of his life, Terry.

He established and owned Great Impressions Dental Lab for 40 years in Richmond, Va., and designed and wrote two dental radiology procedure patents.

He had a larger than life personality, and excelled at racquetball (2005 Men's National champ), golf, skiing, hiking, camping and long-distance ocean swimming at his home in Carolina Beach.

Benson's spirit was truly one of a kind. He was tirelessly dedicated to his family, had a servant's heart, and was a strong and loyal man who never met a stranger.

He exuded love and laughter, enjoyed a good story and always sought fun.

He persevered in the face of adversity until the very end, and loved as one can only dream to love. Those of us feeling his void on earth are comforted knowing that his zest for life will continue in all of us.…

A memorial service will be held at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, Friday, September 2, at 10 a.m., 6006 Three Chopt Road, Richmond, Va. 23226.

I just heard about Benson´s passing, and sorry to hear of his passing. I was a classmate of Benson in grade 6 and 7 when we attended Deer Park Elementary. The one thing that stands out with Benson is he and I were lefties, and when we played softball we both were always on opposite teams as there was only one left-handed glove that him and I shared while playing in the outfield. The other memory is when he was age 11, Benson hit a grand slam to win a game in the Deer Park Little League. This grand slam was the talk of the school for a week. Benson was a great ballplayer.

To the family: I just heard about Benson. His grandfather, Benson, was my mom Margaret´s-oldest brother. He was 5 or 6 when I last saw him. His parents came here in `98when our uncle Brant Hall died.

Dear Terry, Ashley, Samantha, Benson William and all family members,

With loving memories I extend my deep sorrow and condolences on the death of Benson Luther Hall, your beloved husband, father, grandfather.

In 1994 the Benson and Terry Hall family with three young children, volunteered to come to St. Francis Home each week to gather with residents, lead them in bingo, and provide treats, and lively fellowship . . . Oh, how our SFH residents loved those Hall Family Bingo Days!.

Benson: a truly kind, good man who enriched the lives of all of us who were privileged to have known, admired and loved him.

May he rest in eternal peace.

In sympathy,

David Cran

Gone way too quickly. First time I met Benson, it was like we had been friends for 10 years...
Going to miss golfing, goofing and brainstorming with him very much.
RIP my friend, hope to see you again.

I always thing of Benson trucking around the base pads after he smashed a softball, coming around third like a freight train with a smile on his face. A bigger than life full of love guy, who everyone wanted as a friend, and I got to call Benson friend. Terry I´m so sorry for your loss and please hug your children for me. Bill Bevins.

I have heard Benson´s name for years and today finally saw his face. So sorry for your loss. My husband Tommy Hudson always thought highly of his work. Scott was a big friend as well. Sorry you didn´t make it to your 50th year with Benson. Tommy rushed off after 46 years. Hold onto your beautiful memories.
