Carl Godfrey Obituary

Ret. Lt. Col. Carl Franklin Godfrey, U.S. Army, of Colonial Heights, died Wednesday November 9, 2005 at Chippenham Medical Center, Richmond. He was the son of the late James T. and Evelyn Jervis Godfrey. He was preceded in death by a son, Carl Franklin Godfrey Jr. Mr. Godfrey was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Roanoke Va. and also Virginia Tech in Blacksburg Va. He retired from the U.S. Army with over 24 years of service. He was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church in Petersburg Va. Mr. Godfrey is survived by his wife, Anne Gregory Godfrey; a daughter in-law, Colette C. Godfrey; grandchildren, Cooper Franklin Godfrey and Meredith Capri Godfrey, all of Alexandria Va.; a brother, Hampton J. Godfrey of El Paso, Texas; a niece, Lynn Godfrey Hancock; and nephew, Jay T. Godfrey , both of Seattle, Washington. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2005, at the Second Presbyterian Church, 419 W. Washington St., Petersburg, Va. 23805, with the Rev. Daniel E. Hale officiating. Intermemt will follow at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. No flowers please. Memorial donations may be made to the Second Presbyterian Church Organ Fund.
