Carol Barnes Obituary

BARNES, Carol Kimberly, 61, who lived most of her life in Richmond, Va., died on Saturday, September 2, 2023, after losing a years-long battle with a stubborn brain tumor. One side of Kim was feisty and tough, and the other side was compassionate and loving. Family was everything to her, but she also had time to enjoy activities with friends. She laughed a lot.

Kim is survived by her daughter, Morgan Barnes; her mother, Patricia Walker; her father, John Barnes; her stepfather, Kent Walker; and her sister, Kelly St. Clair. She also leaves behind nieces Caitlin St. Clair, Brianna Clarke (Cody), Melissa Hyde (Bob), and nephews Tim and Kevin Crane, bonus nephew Neil St. Clair, as well as one great-nephew and several great-nieces. She loved them all and made a point of letting them know. She was predeceased by her partner, Lynne Browder.

Kim's family will hold a Celebration of Life for her on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at the ComedySportz Theatre, 8906 West Broad Street, Richmond, Va., from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. We invite her friends and our friends as we honor her memory and the tremendous impact she made on our lives. Those who knew Kim well will understand our request that you wear tie-dye if you have it.

So many things brought Kim joy throughout her life; if you wish to make a donation in her memory, please consider a local cat shelter, a llama farm, the ComedySportz Theatre, a brain tumor research organization, or any LGBTQIA+ group.

Although we deeply mourn her loss, we take comfort from the rich and varied laughter-filled life she lived. We miss her so very much even as her spirit is alive in our hearts.
