On behalf of the Goochland County Department of Fire-Rescue & Emergency Services, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Luck Family. Our organization is truly indebted to Mr. Luck and the Luck family for their generous support over many years. In earlier years, when things just didn´t seem possible, Mr. Luck always stepped in and ensured our community had the necessary Fire and Rescue resources. No project was too large or small, ranging from purchasing the first ambulance at Company 1, helping to pay off a fire engine or station project, gravel for a fire station driveway, providing a needed boat for water rescue, to funding the Henley Fire-Rescue Training Center, to just name a few. Mr. Luck allowed his employees of Luck Stone, who were also Fire-Rescue volunteers, to leave their jobs to answer countless emergency calls all over Goochland County. Our department would not be what it is today without the unwavering support of Mr. Luck and his family, and this same support continues today. God Bless the Luck Family and please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. Respectfully, Eddie Ferguson Fire-Rescue Chief

I started working for Mr. Luck when I was a bright and curious age of 19. Mr. Luck treated me like I was one of his family and always encouraged me to look ahead and to give everything I did to the best of my ability. He was always humble personable and interested in my daily life. I praise God that I got to know a man like him. One in a million and more. I can´t explain what he meant to me! I feel a tremendous loss as I´m sure the family feels in such a more intimate way and I will never forget him and his legacy. Sincerely from Tom Hughes and family.

Mr Luck, where do I start?? For 8 years you were my buddy! Weekly phone calls, emails and office visits full of laughter and stories. So many stories, of Richard Petty, college, marriage , kids, cars, LuLu the $5,000 truffle dog and so many more!!! No matter what office, you always followed me... A VMI graduate, husband, father, grandfather and friend. You´re a pioneer, a man who created a legacy that will forever be known and discussed. You were always so kind, funny, knowledgeable and treated others with kindness and respect. You built an empire that is known worldwide. I´m forever grateful for our bond and know True is happy to have you with her hand in hand.

I first met Mr. Luck in 1989, when I joined the Virginia Road Builders Association. His kindness to a "new kid on the block," and his unselfish sharing of his time and wisdom were instrumental to my success, and my now-31 years in the industry. I was blessed.

I am so heartbroken to hear this news but grateful that I got the opportunity to work with him at Luck Stone. He was a southern gentleman. I remember I got to sit down and have coffee with him when I was first hired. He was so sincere and such a class act. He truly cared about people. I know that he will be missed but glad he has been reunited with True. Sending prayers of comfort to the entire family for their loss.
