Charlotte Gibson-Budd Obituary

Charlotte Coretta Gibson-Budd

November 8, 1935 - December 21, 2024

Charlotte Coretta Gibson-Budd, 89, of Richmond, Va., passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024. Born on November 8, 1935, Charlotte lived a life full of spirit and generosity.

A graduate of Manassas Regional High School, Charlotte dedicated her career to serving her community through local government and nonprofit organizations. Her work with Arlington County Juvenile and Domestic Courts and Arlington County Extension Services touched countless lives, leaving a legacy of service.

Charlotte's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Renee Hill-Christian; her son, David Alan Hill; her grandchildren, Sheneil Renee Christian and Lauren Thompson Christian; and her cherished sisters, Juanita Bell, Gloria Gibson, and Rosetta Robinson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah A. Gibson and Clarence Fred Gibson, and her siblings: Ada, Clarence, Frances, Allen, Sarah, Ellsworth, James, Robert, and George Gibson.

Known for her zest for life, Charlotte enjoyed bowling, bargain hunting in thrift stores, reading and cultivating her plants and flowers. She had an adventurous palate, with a special fondness for eggplant parmigiana, tiramisu, and Thai cuisine. She was a dedicated fan of shows like The Bold and the Beautiful, Judge Judy, and The Price is Right, and she found joy in playing games like Wordle and Scrabble, often engaging in spirited online competitions. For her 89th birthday, she delighted in receiving a Nintendo Switch, which she used to enjoy virtual bowling just days before her passing.

Charlotte's giving spirit extended beyond her family and friends. She was a loyal supporter of organizations such as The American Cancer Society, The Alzheimer's Association, The American Heart Association, The March of Dimes, Habitat for Humanity, the National Wildlife Federation, and Veterans Funds, reflecting her commitment to helping others.

A celebration of Charlotte's life will be held at Pleasant Valley Memorial Park, 8420 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA 22003, on January 9th, 2025 at 11 a.m. with family visitation at 10 a.m.

Charlotte will be deeply missed. Her kindness, and unwavering love for her family and community will remain a source of inspiration for generations to come.
