Cheryl Cummins Obituary

Cheryl Annette Cummins

September 1, 1954 - April 25, 2025

Cheryl was born on September 1, 1954, to Ralph and Carolyn (Perkins) Cummins, Clintwood, Va. and passed away April 25, 2025.

She graduated from Clintwood High School and attended Alice Lloyd College before graduating from Berea College with a BS in English. Due to numerous medical challenges, Cheryl spent much of her life in special needs programs, primarily in Richmond, Va. Despite those handicaps, she led a very fulfilling life and especially loved interacting with the various people in her life.

As a Star Trek enthusiast, she had several years of activity with a local Richmond chapter, and Cheryl was very active as a member of Richmond's First Baptist Church, cherishing her many friendships developed over the years. Of special significance for her were numerous former CHS classmates who visited her and shared special moments over the last two years. Her passions were reading, music, writing and poetry, and bragging about her many nieces and nephews.Cheryl was preceded in death by her father; and brother, Charles. She is survived by her mother; sisters, Catherine, Carol (Emmett) Morley, Claudia (Allen) Knapp and Cecilia (Mark) Lasyone; brother, Christopher (Mary Anne); and numerous, much loved, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Hall Clintwood for their wonderful care and attention. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Anyone wishing to make a donation should donate to their favorite charity in Cheryl's memory. No flowers, please.
