Chris Connell

1960 - 2025

Chris Thomas Connell of Midlothian, Virginia passed away on July 17, 2025, at the age of 64, following his courageous years-long battle with a terminal illness. He was at home with his loving wife. His quick wit, breadth of knowledge, and big heart will be missed by the many who had the privilege to know him.

Chris is survived by his wife of 41 years Diane Connell; son Christopher and his wife Holly (Columbus, Ohio); daughter Katherine and her husband Brandon (Bethesda, Maryland); brother Timothy and his wife Jill (Hocking Hills, Ohio); younger brother Kevin and his wife Crystal (Hilliard, Ohio); and numerous nieces and nephews. Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Joan Connell.

Chris was born December 3, 1960, in Plymouth, Indiana, and graduated from Wadsworth High School in Ohio where he played varsity basketball, football, and baseball. He then went to Ohio University, graduating with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1983.

For over 30 years, Chris worked for the Philip Morris Company (Altria) in Richmond, Virginia. He was devoted to and loved by his community and treasured the relationships he established at Philip Morris.

Chris was an avid and skilled golfer who enjoyed many rounds at Brandermill Country Club. A lifelong athlete, Chris loved sharing his passion for sports with his two children as a devoted coach and avid supporter. Chris was a world traveler, experienced fisherman, and committed husband and father. His favorite places to visit were Hawaii, Arizona, and the city of Hong Kong.

A gathering to celebrate Chris's life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Brandermill Country Club in Midlothian, Virginia. A reception will follow.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Chris Thomas Connell's honor be made to The ALS Association of Virginia.
