Claudia Buchanan Obituary
Claudia Kay Buchanan, 74, of Hanover, VA, passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 16, 2025.
She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas Faucette Buchanan, Sr. and Daisy Lee Buchanan.
Claudia is survived by her devoted brother, Thomas Faucette Buchanan, Jr.; her sister by choice, Patty Cobb; the family dog, Bella; Rebecca and James Fortune, Chris and Ann Fortune and their children, Savannah and Carleigh; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Claudia retired after many years of working in the cafeteria for Richmond Public Schools. As a devoted member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Hanover she was honored with a plaque for 15 years of service in the Church nursery. She later attended Lakeside Center where she met her friend, Mike Diservio. For the past 27 years, Claudia resided at the Good Neighbor Village where she was provided with love, support, and friendships .
Her exceptional ability to remember names, birthdates, and accomplishments of those around her was amazing.
Claudia seldom missed an episode of her favorite Soap Operas or "stories" as she enjoyed a never ending supply of starlight mints. Her love of cheesecake surely deserves an honorable mention!
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Bliley's – Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., Richmond, VA 23230. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 8050 St. Paul's Church Rd., Hanover, VA 23069 with interment to follow directly in the church cemetery.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Church, P.O. Box 441, Hanover, VA 23069, or to Good Neighbor Village, P.O. Box 38413, Richmond, VA 23231.

I am blessed to have known Claudia while she was a resident at Good neighbor Village. I have never seen her without a smile and she always had something wonderful to share. I will miss her. The Village won't be the same without her.
