Curtis Cooke Obituary

COOKE, Curtis Hudson, 79, of Montpelier, Va., passed away May 9, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carrie Moore and John Marshall Cooke; and son, David Timothy Cooke. He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Jewel Burkholder Cooke; stepson, Kendall Gammon (Tasha Miller) of Mechanicsville, Va.; and grandchildren, Daisy Gammon and Jack Gammon. Curtis grew up in King William County, Va. and graduated from King William High School. After serving in the Virginia Army National Guard he went on to work for them in logistics, retiring in 2003. After retirement he and Jewel moved to Montpelier, Va., where he enjoyed boating, camping, traveling and yard work. They attended Hopeful Baptist Church where he cultivated special friendships, especially through Golden Circle trips and many enjoyable church fellowship meals. The family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Bliley's-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. and 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Hopeful Baptist Church, 14340 Hopeful Church Rd. where a celebration of his life will be held at 12 p.m. Interment to follow in church cemetery.

This type of news is never good but this one hits close to home. He is in good hands and surrounded by a family that loves him. My prayers to Jewel and her family as they navigate through this next journey.
My Mom and Dad loved him like a son. We loved him like a brother. The world lost a treasured soul.
