David Lee Boddy

1939 - 2023

BODDY, David Lee, 83, of Richmond, Va., passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rennie and Nellie Boddy; his daughter, Jill Christine Boddy; and his brother, Ed Boddy. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Mathie Boddy; son, Mark E. Boddy (Emily); grandchildren, Sarah (Ralph), Rachel and David Boddy; brother, Eric Boddy (Mary Lynn). Born in Wyandotte, Michigan, Dave attended the University of Michigan (Go BLUE!) and graduated from Western Reserve University with a degree in Architecture. Throughout his professional life, he worked for private architectural firms in both Ohio and Virginia, Hiram House Camp in Cleveland, Ohio and the Va. Department of Education in Richmond. The focus of his career was to impact education by improving the spaces, both indoor and out, where children learn. Dave will be greatly missed by family and friends. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Cedarfield Fellowship Hall, 2300 Cedarfield Pkwy., in Richmond, Va., on Saturday, January 21 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Carter Center, 453 John Lewis Freedom Pkwy.
