David Roberts Obituary

ROBERTS, David Gray, Sr., 86, of Chesterfield County, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dolly Brooks Roberts; daughters, Pamela Phillips and Alison Gray Cockrell (Timothy); son, David Gray Roberts Jr. (April); and grandchildren, Paige Phillips Wesley (Clint), Conner and Tyler Roberts and Aaron Gray Cockrell; and great-granddaughter, Lena Noel Wesley. David was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John A. Phillips Jr.; and grandson, John Corey Phillips.

David was a graduate of John Marshall High School, where he was in the Corps of Cadets. He was a former investigator of 26 years for the Allen & Allen Law Firm. Later, he was co-owner of Top Porker BBQ restaurant. David was a member of Bethany Place Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and served as Superintendent of Sunday school. He had been a longtime member of the former Thomas N. Davis Lodge No. 351 A.F. & A.M. and was presently a member of Varina Lodge No. 272 A.F. & A.M. He was an avid sportsman and loved boating.

A funeral service with Masonic rites will be held 2 p.m. Friday, December 10, at Dale Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Arrangements are by the Chesterfield Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home.
