Earl Abbott Obituary

Earl Abbott, Jr.

August 8, 1938 - December 30, 2024

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Earl Leighton Abbott, Jr., of Goochland, who passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in the mountains of Bath/Allegheny County in the small town of Clifton Forge, VA, and was raised as a loving southern gentleman. He is survived by the love of his life, Susan Hackman; stepson, Justin Hackman; daughter, Beth (Patrick) Fuller; grandchildren, Trent (Valerie), AJ and Sydney Johnston; and a sister, Jo Ann Hart. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Earl L. Abbott, Sr. and Flora; his sister, Stewart Bemus; and brother, Frank Abbott.

The family will receive friends during a visitation ceremony on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home on 11020 Broad Street Road, Glen Allen, VA.

In honor of Leighton's final wishes, a private remembrance celebration will be held at Virginia Beach to scatter his remains, a place he truly loved at a later date.

"Although Leighton is gone, he will live in our hearts forever."
