A member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, Ed was graduated from the University of Virginia in 1955 with a degree in Architecture. After serving as an officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, he began his practice as an architect in Richmond. He served as the president of the Richmond Metro Section of the AIA.
