As I young girl from Harlem my dream was to study acting and become a successful actor, my mother did not approve or support me so a few times a week I would sneak over to Ernie McClintock theater workshop on 127 St. In Harlem I watched and learned as the community partisapated in groups My mom never consented but I thank Ernie for letting me stand by the door and watch and learn from his brilliance and excellence! Rest in peace

I had the pleasure of studying with Ernie at the Afro American Studio in Harlem. He was a real inspiration to me. He was Black Theater history in the making. I'm sure his legacy will endure.

I'm a better person for having met him and studied with him.

I was very saddened to hear of Ernie's passing. I was one of his Jazz actor's students for a short time in Richmond. Ernie Truly loved the theatre and dedicated his life to it. He will be missed.

Ernie was the best teacher in theatre that I ever had. I was a student of the Afro-American Studio for Acting and Speech in the 60s. I will never forget the production of Langston Hughes' Black Nativity which ran at the theatre. We had so much fun with that production. I didn't know that Ernie had made his transition but I am sure that he is at peace. I will definitely attend the memorial on November 1st at The National Black Theatre. I will also contact other alumni that I have contact with. It is good that we have the internet.

Thanks to Ernie McClintock, the doors his Afro-American Studio were always open to Actors who emigrated from the Caribbean, like myself. Ernie welcomed us to New York and provided a nurturing environment. I am saddened by his loss and take comfort in the memory of his legacy.

I first met Ernie in 1991 while a student at VCU in Richmond. Over the years he not only helped me to develop and improve my acting skills but also my character. He was one of the most caring mentors I have ever known. His love for me and his respect for my talent has been a remarkable source of encouragement and inspiration. Ernie deserves much of the credit for whatever success I may achieve in the acting profession!! My life is just one of many lives that has been forever changed for the better because of Ernie. His labor was not in vain. He will not be forgotten.
