Fannie Neuroth Obituary

NEUROTH, Fannie Burnett, passed away suddenly on February 7, 2007 in Bradenton, Florida at the age of 85. Born December 31, 1921 in Richmond, Virginia, the third of four daughters born to Maude and Roy Burnett. As a young girl she never missed a day of school because she felt "they couldn't possibly get along without her!" Fan developed a love of trains through her father, an engineer, and a love for fishing on the Rappahannock River. Miss Burnett was first married in 1942 to Buddy Forbes, an Army Air Force Pilot whose plane was never recovered during WWII. To honor his memory, she joined the Women's Army Corps (WACS) and transferred to Santa Ana, California. A stunning beauty, she became the poster girl for the new WAC uniforms. It was here that she met the man who would be the light and love of her life, Fred Austin Neuroth. They were married on July 15, 1944 and moved to San Jose, Calif. Fan was active in the Girl Scouts. She then became a private-care nurse. Finally, the couple moved back to Fan's beloved Virginia in 1989 to be near sisters, Blanche, Faye and Dora and their extended families, on the Rappahannock River. Fred passed away in 1995 after 52 years of marriage. Most recently, Fan became the wife of longtime Richmond resident, Zeke Tiller (also deceased). They had wintered together in Palmetto, Florida and shared the love of their big families. Fannie was also preceded in death by two sons, Fred William and John Raymond. Survived by her daughter, Joan and husband, Evert Nygren, of Incline Village, Nevada; daughter-in-law, Mara Neuroth; and three sons, Gary (Laurie), James (Bella), and Steven Neuroth, all of Laytonville. Fan had eight grandchildren, Torsten and Kirstin Nygren, Emily, Austin, Hans, Erin, Tyson and Michelle Neuroth, all from Laytonville; and three great-grandchildren. Fannie had many best friends from Glen Allen School in Richmond, Va., and a large and loving family on "The Rivah". This sweet Southern Belle was most loved and will be missed by all. Graveside service will be held Monday, June 25, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. in Oakwood Cemetery, 3100 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, Va.
