Faye Bond Obituary

BOND, Faye Nickerson, 78, passed away peacefully August 11, 2021, with her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Jimmy, faithfully, by her side. Faye was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on March 27, 1943, to Roy and Lottie Nickerson. Her family moved to Richmond, where she graduated from Hermitage High School in 1961. She married her high school sweetheart, Jimmy, in 1962. Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Lottie Nickerson; father-in-law, William Bond; mother-in-law, Revelia Bond; brother-in-law, Bill Bond and his wife, Anita; numerous aunts and uncles; her nephews, Keith Bond, Mark Kincaid and Clete Walker; niece, Susan Bond; and brother-in-law, Charles Sturgis. Faye is survived by her loving husband and very best friend, Jimmy; she was the much loved mother of David Bond (Martha) and Vicki Haislip (Greg); she was the cherished "Gran" of Erin Brody (George), Andrew Bond (Brad), Caroline Bond, Dylan, Owen and Connor Hicks and Chance Haislip; sister, Barbara Nickerson; nephew, Kin Kincaid; niece, Donna Begany (Mark); nephew, Bill Bond (Leslie); her dear friends and compassionate caregivers, Donna and Jiggs Gordon. Faye was a faithful and loving wife, a supportive mother and the proudest "Gran" you have ever met. She treasured her children and grandchildren. She loved each minute spent with them. Faye attended every school, church and sporting event she could. She was sometimes loud (JRT basketball) and always proud. Faye went above and beyond as the number one fan and cheerleader for her grandson, Owen. Faye attended physical and occupational therapy with him, sang songs, read books and enriched and enhanced his life as an individual with Down Syndrome. Faye worked in banking, as well as with Henrico County Public Schools. She will, however, be remembered as a wife, mother and "Gran." Faye lived passionately for her family. She lived simply and loved endlessly. May she rest in peace, assured that we have all grown to be better because she loved us. The family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St. A private burial will be held for her family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Richmond, A Loving Heart Adult Home (Donna and Jiggs Gordon) or a charity of your choice.

Dear Jimmy, Vicki, Owen & family,
I am so very sorry to hear the sad news of Gran´s passing. I have many fond memories of her involvement when Owen was in preschool. She was so proud of sweet Owen, and loved him so dearly. I can remember that she would help out our class by sharing seasonal craft ideas, and would sometimes present us with a packet of pre-cut components that she had prepared by hand to make the job easier for us. What a thoughtful gesture that was, and so appreciated. Through the years, her devotion to your family and the deep mutual love within the family were so evident. You have written a lovely tribute to her. May your memories be a source of comfort now. I will be keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. Love, "Ms. Cindi"
