Florence LaMont "Flo" Fisher

Florence Fisher Obituary

Florence "Flo" LaMont Fisher, age 82, of Richmond, died early Wednesday morning, March 8, 2006, following her courageous battle with cancer. She has gone on to be, once again, in the arms of her beloved husband, Merle Linwood "Bud" Fisher, who preceded her in death in 1990. Flo was originally from Newburgh, N.Y. and was a 1941 graduate of The Newburgh Free Academy. In the early forties, she moved to Alexandria, Va. with her family and worked for several years for Colonels Harder and Troster at the Pentagon. After marrying Bud in 1948 and traveling extensively throughout Virginia, she moved to Richmond in 1968. There she worked for 26 years for AMF Reece, Inc., retiring in 1995. Up until she became ill in 2003, she was an active volunteer at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church and she worked as a part-time babysitter at Huguenot Road Baptist Church. All who knew her will miss her concern and generosity that extended well beyond her immediate family. We will mourn the loss of our wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin and will forever cherish her in loving memory. She is survived by four daughters, Ms. Teresa Marie Fisher, Mrs. Patricia Anne Baysden and her husband, Walter Sutton, Mrs. Mary Dolores Harrison and her husband, James Lewis and Ms. Judith Merle Fisher; her three sons, Mr. Daniel Jay Fisher and his wife, Elizabeth Anne, Mr. John Linwood Fisher and his wife, Judy Lynn, and Mr. Robert James Fisher and his wife, Tonya Lynn; her 15 grandchildren, Paul Hilton and Adam Patrick Glynn, Jacqueline Rae and Katherine Suzanne Fisher, John Linwood Jr., Joseph Daniel and Joshua Jay Fisher, Jessica Leigh and James Linwood Baysden, Christopher Paul, Charles Steven and Richard Merle Fisher, Brandie, Ian James and Nora Elizabeth Harrison; her great-granddaughter, Isabel Lin Baysden; as well as her sister, Mary Dolores Brown; nephew, James Daniel Johnson; cousins, Betty Parks and her husband, Gray and their children, Kathy and Bart Bailey, Mary Beth and Dave Ackerman, Susan and Michael Oblinger and Walter and Sandra Parks; John McVeigh and his wife, Rose, Robert Clydesdale and his wife, Bea; and finally, on her husband's side of the family, nieces, Andrea Schaffer and her husband, John, Susie Schwartz and her husband, Barry, Sara Lou Greis; and nephews, Michael Fisher, John Franklin and David Lee Mercer. The family will receive friends at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 11 and Sunday, March 12. A Funeral Mass will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2006 at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 2700 Dolfield Drive (off Huguenot Road), with interment immediately following the service at Dale Memorial Park on Newbys Bridge Road, Chesterfield. Life celebration to follow.

Dear Patti, I just read your mom's obituary in the Midlo Exchange. I am sorry for your loss. I can not imagine how hard it is when your parents are gone. My love and prayers to you and your siblings. Didn't know where to send a card so I hope you see this.

With Sympathy,

Cindy

We will truly miss her. Mrs. Fisher was more than a step-grandmother to Paul and Adam. She was a truly loving and kind grandmother to them. She was always kind to me as well. I know her family and friends will truly miss her. I will miss her kindness and humor. You will always have a place in our heart.
