Gilbert Eugene Ozmore

OZMORE, Gilbert Eugene, 78, of Hopewell, passed away Monday, November 15, 2021, at Southside Regional Hospital after an extended stay. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Lee and Belle Mayes Ozmore; and stepmother, Janie Knight Ozmore. Gil is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alice Greene Ozmore; daughter, Sherry Dawn Ozmore of Richmond; and son, Gerald Lee Ozmore; grandsons, Grant Theodore and Charley William Ozmore of Midlothian; and grandson, Storm Trevor Royster of Indiana; sisters-in-law, Billie Jean Henderson (Jerry) and Barbara Currier of Florida; also many nieces, nephews and cousins. Gilbert was a charter member of Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church and Boy Scout Troop 922. He retired as a Project Manager from Allied Signal Honeywell and English Boiler; he was an avid community volunteer to include the Hopewell Police Volunteers, Chesterfield Youth Softball coach and a USSSA umpire for many years, a member of the Richmond Corvette Club and a life member of the Virginia Jaycees. He also enjoyed watching his beloved Washington "Redskins" and VCU Rams basketball. The family will receive family and friends at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home in Chester, from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021 with service to follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
