Guy LaFata Obituary

Guy Anthony LaFata, born February 27, 1922 in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away October 19, 2002 at the Tucson Medical Center Hospice in Tucson, Arizona, after a brief illness. Mr. LaFata was a decorated veteran of World War II, who on his 47th mission on the crew of a B-24 Liberator was shot down and imprisoned by German forces at Barth, Germany. At wars end, he returned to his beloved wife, Lonnie, and a successful career in manufacturing that took his family to New York, Chicago and Verona, Italy. Our dad's first passion was mom; they recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. He also loved golf, cards, duck hunting and military history. He had a tremendous zest for life and a marvelous sense of humor, and he will be sorely missed. Guy LaFata is survived by his wife; his children, Cynthia Ann Minen of Atlanta, Georgia, Steven John LaFata of Costa Mesa, California, Lance Anthony LaFata of Benson, Arizona, Lisa Taylor Powell of Richmond, Virginia, and Lynne Marie Loranger of Tucson, Arizona. Nine grandchildren also mourn his passing. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Children's Hospital, 2924 Brook Road, Richmond, Va. 23220.
