Helen Minetree Obituary
She was born on September 5, 1935.
Helen attended University of Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University, graduating with a BA in Education from the latter in 1971.
Helen married Howard Everett Minetree on June 30, 1956, and they had two children, April Lynn McDonald and Mark Everett Minetree.
She was a beloved middle school teacher in Chesterfield County for 33 years.
She was an avid reader and lover of children. She taught Sunday School at West End Baptist where she attended for many years.
Helen is survived by her children, April Lynne McDonald (Rob) and Mark Everett Minetree (Jan); grandchildren, Ashley Harding (Christian), Cara Everett Hoggood, and Cole Harrison Minetree; great-grandchildren, Liv Harding and Rome Harding; "Little sis" Nancy Wilkerson (Calvin), Joanne Hite and Michael Simmons; and numerous other beloved nieces, nephews, and aunts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her parents, Adelbert Lorenzo and Ida Orcutt Taylor; and her sister, Margaret Taylor Simmons.
Visitation will be held at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home - Petersburg Chapel, in Petersburg, VA, on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be held at Southlawn Memorial Park at 3 p.m. the same day.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to West End Baptist Church.
