Helen will be dearly missed by many people. To us, she was a wonderful neighbor and friend. We remember seeing the students arrive at her home for Hebrew lessons, which she taught for so many years. We extend our sincere sympathy to her children, grandchildren and other family during this difficult time. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Judy and Philip,
This caught me completely off guard. It feels like just yesterday we enjoyed listening to the three "Okuns" singing together at Temple Beth El. Your Mother was a very precious individual.
You are both in my prayers.

We will sure miss Helen at Beth Sholom's Campus. She was one of the most upbeat ladies, and never had an unpleasant word to say about anyone. She is now singing again with her favorite Cantor.

Helen, I was happy to "getting to know you." They didn't mention you were also a great-grandmother to Maggie Okun. That's where I first met you.

We were so sorry to learn of Helen's passing. The legacy Helen and Cantor Okun left will long be remembered. Not only were they part of my growing up years, but they were part of our wedding. Helen's kindness and caring will be remembered. May all the good memories be a comfort to Judy, Phil, and the entire family.

Words cannot express how I felt when I heard that Helen had died. Her death signifies the end of an era at Beth-El. Without Helen and Cantor Okun I never would have been bat mitzvah myself, nor would I have developed my love of the Hebrew language and Jewish choral music without their guidance. Not to mention that our wedding (Bill's and mine) went off without a hitch thanks to Helen! In the past two years whenever I went to the Gardens to visit my family, I always went looking for Helen, and she ALWAYS knew me! Last October I marveled at how she was still able to daven the whole Kabbalat Shabbat service by heart. I am very sad. I will miss her very much. My sincere condolences go out to Judy, Philip, and all the family. I'm sorry I can't be there for her funeral. HaMakom Y'nachem Etchem B'toch Aveilei Tzion v'Yerushalyim. Much love, Cheryl
