Henry Wickham Obituary

WICKHAM, Henry Taylor, 88, of Richmond, died November 10, 2008. Mr. Wickham is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Margaret Gearing Wickham; three daughters and their husbands, Wallis and Dan Raemer of Brookline, Mass., Lisa and Richard Haskell of Richmond and Mason Wickham and Edwin Zawadski of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one son and his wife, George and Mary Wickham of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Taylor and Whit Farnum, Maggie Raemer, Clayton and William Wickham, Ela and Claire Zawadski; and five stepgrandchildren, Ben and Zachary Raemer, Laine Gratz, and Richard and Clayton Haskell. Mr. Wickham graduated from Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va. and received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Virginia. A veteran of WWII, he served as a Lieutenant in the Navy on the U.S.S. Knight. He was a partner in the law firm of Mays & Valentine, currently Troutman Sanders, a lifetime member of St. James's Episcopal Church, a past chairman of the board of the Valentine Museum, and a member of the board of the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities. A memorial service will be held 12 noon Wednesday, November 12 at St. James's Episcopal Church. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations in Henry's memory to the Valentine Richmond History Center, 1015 E. Clay St., Richmond, Va. 23219 or the APVA, 204 W. Franklin St., Richmond, Va. 23220. The Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
