Herbert Jackson Obituary

Herbert Worth Jackson IV died September 19, 2025, after a period of declining health.

Born on February 12, 1956, Herb was a graduate of St. Christopher's School and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where he was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

Born and raised in Richmond, he spent many years in the Durham and Raleigh, North Carolina areas before moving back to Virginia. Herb worked in the financial services sector for most of his career.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert W. Jackson III. He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth "Betsy" Jackson Parrish; his brother, Henry G. "Hal" Jackson (Claire); his sister, Elizabeth Wood Jackson; and nieces and nephews.

A man with a kind heart, ready smile, and joyful laugh, Herb found enjoyment in the beauty of nature, whether in a duck marsh, on a mountaintop, or at the beach. In his younger years, he enjoyed woodworking and channeled his creative side by making furniture. Herb also had a passion for fly fishing and enjoyed cooking – especially wild game dinners for family and friends.

A private family service will be held in Richmond, Va. at a future date.

Herb and I were friends and fraternity Brothers for 4 years at the University of North Carolina at chapel Hill. He and I lived right across the hall from each other in Grimes dormitory my freshman year. We spent more time together going out various places than we did in our dormitory ; loved him as a friend and a great guy. My condolences to the family. He was a real gentleman. Doug DuPont
